DENTON BBQ LLC / SECURITY & TRUST

Threats change.
Our responsibility doesn't.

Technology should help your business run—not leave you guessing when the headlines turn alarming. We translate security advisories into practical questions, informed decisions, and appropriate action for the websites and systems we support.

SECURITY ADVISORY WATCH

Understanding “Black October”

“Black October” is an informal label being used in discussion of multiple serious October 2026 cybersecurity developments. It is not a single confirmed, coordinated attack or an official industry incident name.

What the headlines mean for clients

The incidents below are real and significant. They affect different technologies, so no website should be labeled vulnerable—or safe—without checking its actual software and configuration. This is an editorial advisory page, not a live automated vulnerability feed or an assessment of every client system.

PHP2Shell: critical PHP vulnerabilities

Two critical PHP vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) may allow unauthenticated remote code execution on affected servers. PHP applications and products that bundle PHP need an urgent version check and vendor guidance.

What Denton BBQ checks

Our primary custom Next.js stack does not use PHP, but supported third-party or legacy websites may. The relevant software must be inventoried before exposure can be ruled out.

Node.js security releases

Node.js released security updates for the 22.x, 24.x and 26.x lines, addressing vulnerabilities and dependency issues. The highest-severity issue in this release is rated High by the Node.js project.

What Denton BBQ checks

Relevant to Node.js-based applications. Runtime versions, deployment settings, and dependency use must be checked per project before deciding which updates apply.

LiteLLM 1.107.0 package compromise

A malicious LiteLLM release was distributed through PyPI and official container images. Microsoft reported credential-theft behavior that could run as Python started, even without importing LiteLLM in an application.

What Denton BBQ checks

Impact depends on whether the compromised package or image was installed. Affected environments require investigation and appropriate credential rotation—not merely a package update.

HOW WE WORK

Protection is a process, not a badge.

Our role is to apply sound engineering judgment, use established platforms responsibly, and respond to issues relevant to each client's technology and service scope. We distinguish measures in use from services that require a separate review or agreement.

01In use where configured

Identity and access controls

Denton BBQ builds authenticated staff and client portals, including access restrictions and role-based workflows. Permissions and sign-in methods vary by project; a secure login is not a substitute for an authorization review.

02Existing service

SiteWatch availability monitoring

SiteWatch monitors reachability and helps us respond when enrolled websites are unavailable. This is uptime monitoring—not proof that a site is free of malware, vulnerabilities, or intrusions.

03Development workflow

Controlled code and deployments

Our custom stack uses version-controlled source code and managed deployments. Changes can be traced, reviewed, and rolled forward with fixes. Release checks and security testing are assessed for each project.

04Ongoing assessment

Security advisory review

We assess relevant vendor advisories, affected versions, third-party components, and potential client impact. A published vulnerability does not automatically mean a client website is affected.

05Available service

Website wellness reviews

WellnessWatch provides point-in-time performance, accessibility, SEO, and browser best-practice findings. It is not a penetration test, vulnerability scan, or security certification.

06Response process

Prioritized remediation

When an issue is confirmed, the response should match its severity and exposure: investigate, reduce risk, apply updates or configuration changes, verify results, and communicate material client impact.

SITEWATCH / DENTON BBQ

Availability is one layer of protection.

SiteWatch helps us notice and investigate website downtime for enrolled properties. It supports operational awareness and faster troubleshooting when a site stops responding.

Cybersecurity is broader. A website can load normally while a vulnerable dependency, compromised credential, or unauthorized access remains undetected. Those risks require different assessment and response work.

Software inventory, vendor guidance, permissions, dependency risk, and targeted investigation when appropriate.

Not a claim we make“Always monitored, 100% secure”

No monitoring product, hosting platform, or development practice can guarantee this.

WHEN A SECURITY CONCERN ARISES

Our response framework

A useful response starts with facts, not panic. The actions required depend on whether a client is actually exposed and which services are covered.

01

Identify

Verify the advisory or report against trusted sources. Separate confirmed facts from rumors.

02

Assess

Check which technologies, versions, and client environments could be affected.

03

Contain

When needed, restrict access, disable an affected integration, or rotate exposed credentials.

04

Remediate

Apply an appropriate patch, deployment, configuration fix, or vendor mitigation.

05

Validate

Test functionality and review evidence that the specific issue has been addressed.

06

Communicate

Inform affected clients of material findings, actions, and any steps they need to take.

This describes the process Denton BBQ uses to guide security decisions; it does not promise a fixed response-time SLA, forensic investigation, or 24/7 coverage unless expressly included in a client agreement.

A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY

Simple steps make a difference.

Technology safeguards work best alongside good account and business practices. A few sensible habits reduce avoidable risk.

Use strong, unique passwords

Prefer a password manager. Never share passwords through email or support tickets.

Enable multi-factor authentication

Use MFA wherever available, especially on email, financial, hosting, and administrator accounts.

Keep devices and browsers updated

Apply operating-system, browser, and security updates without unnecessary delay.

Report suspicious activity early

Unexpected login prompts, account changes, and unusual messages are worth reporting promptly.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Security questions, answered.

Does SiteWatch detect hacking or malware?

No. SiteWatch is an availability-monitoring service. A website can be online and still have a security issue. Security analysis, vulnerability assessment, log review, and incident investigation are separate activities.

Are all Denton BBQ clients automatically covered by continuous security monitoring?

No. Monitoring, maintenance, backup, and security-review scope depend on the client's agreement and the technologies involved. We do not claim a 24/7 staffed security operations center or continuous vulnerability scanning for every site.

Has Black October affected my website?

The existence of an advisory is not evidence that a specific website is affected. We first check the technologies and versions in use, whether the vulnerable feature or package is present, and the vendor's guidance. Contact us for a review of your environment.

Can a website ever be guaranteed 100% secure?

No responsible provider can guarantee that. Security depends on software, hosting, users, third-party services, configurations, and timely response. Our objective is to reduce exposure, detect meaningful problems where monitoring is configured, and respond responsibly.

What should I do if I suspect a security issue?

Contact Denton BBQ promptly. Include the website, approximate time, and what you observed. Do not email passwords, API keys, financial details, or other secrets. If an account may be compromised, change its password using a trusted device and follow the provider's guidance.

Have a question about your website?

If an advisory concerns you, we'll help determine which facts matter for your particular system. For suspected incidents, avoid sending passwords or sensitive data in your initial message.

Security is an ongoing practice. Individual coverage, monitoring, backups, patching, and incident services depend on the client agreement. Last content review: October 24, 2026.
